It's rare....
A customer requested a bar/stem set. I have only built maybe four in my life and not one like this. It is all German 4130-it isn't that I specifically ordered tubing from Germany but it was stamped 'Germany' on the side. It seems straighter in the lathe than the cro-mo that I normally get. It welded up nicer as well. I'm not opposed to making a few more of these if folks want. I call it " Javier Barstem".

I've been noticing the "Germany" printed on the 1" cro-mo I've been getting lately. On the Aircraft Spruce stuff and the Dillsburg stuff too. No big deal but I was wondering, why Germany?
Something tells me that the resellers are having to go out of the USA to have all the sizes of cr-mo in stock. Maybe the US mills are slowing down production. Steve Garro tells me that there is no more 1 1/8" .028 4130 cro-mo tubes being produced.I hope there isn't a trend starting here.....
When I was read "Javier Barstem" I was really stoked to see that you made an homage to my radness, but then I realized it was a reference to Javier Bardem and then I got bummed out.
Don't be bummed.....you are the only Javier that I know so it was your name that started the Idea. I just had to use the actor's last name because it was fitting....
