This Della Santa road bike was made in 1978 and it is mine. I lucked into it around 8 years ago-a friends housemate was selling it. It's pretty close to my size and it is in really good shape. It is the only bike I own built by another American builder.

What a stunning period piece. The skinny tubes, filed lugs, and exposed brake lines just look so very correct all-together. If it had a set of Champeonato Del Mundo tubbies, mounted on Fiamme red labels, it would be too perect.
I gave away a set of Fiamme reds a few months ago.....maybe I should have kept them ! The rims and tires are obviously modern and utilitarian so I can ride the bike without worrying about flatting a nice tubular. Maybe I'll ride it today .I'll put some other bikes from my collection up in the coming weeks.
