Bro-tour rim brake ? - yes, it exists

Here's one for the books- modern look, old style rim brakes and mechanical drive train. The Bro-Tour will replace the 'SL' in my aluminum road frame offerings. Of course, this does not mean that I won't be able to build the SL, it just means that this model will replace it on the website eventually. All of the earlier ones I have built have been for disc brakes but this rider felt that he didn't really need them. I hope he likes what I built for him. It is very light at barely 3 lbs. for the frame. 
 

All-road steel frame going to Truckee, Calif.

If you are on our CX team and you win a national title, I build you a free frame of your choice. Caroline Dezendorf won the single speed class in the nationals last year so this is her choice- a steel all-road frame with an Enve all-road fork. She already has a fleet of CX bikes so this one should fill a role that the other bikes don't.
 

Really huge all-road 7005 frame for St. Louis, MO.

 This is a super tall one. I built a rim brake version for this customer some years ago and he decided he wanted room for bigger tires and some disc brakes. This frame is wedded to an Enve all-road fork so the bike will take 700x38 tires. I hope that it makes the rider happy. This one is going to Big Shark bikes in St. Louis .

WCCX frame going to Asheville, NC

This one, along with all the parts is going UPS to Asheville , NC this morning. I hope that the rider really enjoys his first foray into a modern CX bike. 

 

Two WCCX frames for new team member

 These are going to one of the local legends.....or really, the local legend of bike racing. He has been on a few teams over the years but now he has joined our team and will be racing cyclocross on this pair of frames. I'm hoping that he will get them built up soon. Thanks to Chris King for the deal on the 50th anniversary stuff and to this rider , who's own business Tom's Well service is a new sponsor of the team. 

7005 CX/adventure frame for a local

This owner got a similar frame from me about 10  years ago and was looking to replace it after many thousands of miles on the first one. His most recent ride was a 300 mile jaunt from Santa Cruz to Santa Barbara in just a bit over 24 hours. I guess the aluminum frame was not too rough of a ride .....it's all in the tires in my opinion anyway. This new version has an Enve adventure fork with adjustable offset and many mounting points. Maybe this one will see even longer rides.....
 

Steel single speed/geared big tire CX

The customer for this one asked to be able to run 700x50 tires -this will do that. It also has a semi-in route rear brake routing -not through the head tube but through the T-47 BB and exiting on the chain stay. This seems to be a popular option lately. It's a little more work for me with creating the larger ports int the BB shell but it's easy to do on the Bridgeport mill. This frame weighs 4 lb. 9 oz. and it is for a 5'11" rider. 

 

Steel all-road frame and fork for Florida

I also built a stem for this one but it did not get into the photo. There's some older features on this one, namely the 1" threaded steerer , the brazed seat lug and the crowned fork. The bike will also have V-brakes. Where this rider lives there's not much in the way of hills or technical dirt. This one will be cruising the flat roads around St. Augustine. Can't wait to see the color the owner picked- Prsche Amethyst metallic. Should be really nice with original style silver and clear decals. 
 

New hats in stock

Yes- the next season of CX is just about to start and the team podium hats have arrived. These are the 2026 version and they are in the limited edition color.....that's limited to how many you all want. The price is $ 25 and they can be ordered with an email to me as these are not on the webstore yet. I have almost 100 of them in stock but they are starting to go ........not gone yet but going.
 

7005 CX with Campacho UDH

 here's another frame with the made-in-spain UDH. I have built three frames with this setup so far and it has given me the idea to produce my own UDH dropout to interface with the non-driveside flat mount dropouts that I already have. This will make fixturing and welding easier for me as the shape of the dropout will be roughly the same as what I have been using for over 20 years. 

The color of this one is 'forest green'. The frame is matched to the Enve 'Adventure' fork. 

Bro-tour frame for local

This one is full in-route and will get the full Chris King parts build. It isn't a big tire version but a straight ahead road bike for 700x32 tires max. The fade was done by Joe's bicycle painting in Watsonville.
 

A pair of fixed-gear MTB frames for Kansas City

I built these two earlier this month and am finally getting them on the blog. The customer has been riding fixed off-road for years and these are not the first of their kind that I have built for him and his buddies . The frames are sturdy but not overbuilt . The customer source Paul Component 'swoopy' dropouts which apparently are being made again . 
 

The wishbone seat stays are made by Tange to my design - something I have wanted for years and now finally have. These frames look very much like the first versions I built about 15 years ago-I hope that they hold up at least as well as the earlier versions.

 

Bro-Tour plus for San Fransisco

This is the in-route UDH Bro Tour plus that will be mated to an Enve all-road fork. The frame and fork will take up to a 38 mm road tire making it a mixed road surface bike.

This is the first one I have made with all these features but I think there will be many more. Increasingly people are shying away from smaller tires on the road, myself included. I do believe that 700x28 and smaller tires have a place in road racing but larger tires for casual rides are really the way to go for comfort .

 

Touring big tire steel frame and fork for Seattle

These days I refer to this as a drop bar MTB although this one might not have drop bars. It has the look of an MTB frame but it isn't quite that. It can fit some pretty large tires but it's not made for shredding the rough stuff. That said, I think it can handle some variable road conditions well. 

 

Flat bar/MTB/29er kinda gravel rig for Marcells, NY

 This one is built for comfort riding the tow-paths and the like in NY state. The bars will be up and comfortable and there's attachments for a rack and three bottles as well as a top tube bag. When I retire I'll be riding something like this ......if I retire ...

The fork is one that I built using NOS True Temper unicrown blades. They are better than anything I can buy nowadays. I'm very lucky to have stocked up when I did. They are coming in handy as more people are opting for steel rigid forks as of late.

 

7005 All road frame going to Louisville, Ky.

 This one is the first UDH aluminum frame build for me. The customer sourced these dropouts from a company in Spain. Now I have used a few pair and they seem to be fine. The company that produces the dropouts build bicycles as well and they use a similar dropout on an aluminum tandem frame. I guess I should take a look at their website and see what their operation is all about.

This frame is mated to an Enve all-road in-route model fork that has been painted to match. Yes, this is an in-route bike....I'm entering into a new era where cable guides are obsolete !

WCCX frame going to Asheville, N.C.

 This one will be a complete build when time permits. I hope to have it together in the next 7-10 days. This frame was part of an earlier batch in May , along with a few others that are still in the shop. They all have to be cleared out soon to make way for all the stuff that is coming back from the painter in a day or so. 

This one is only about 3 lb. 1 oz. as it is made for a 5'6" rider. It should be out at the races next month if all goes to plan. This rider has been on my bikes for more than a decade and this will be his first disc brake model. I hope that he likes it.
