Ultimundo steel frame for disc

Yes, I do make this frame for disc brakes as well as rim brakes. The construction is very much the same style but the down tube is stouter because of the additional stress of disc brakes. I also add a down tube gussett , something I have not done on the rim brake versions. This one will get and Enve road fork.

WCCX frame going to Bellingham, Wa.

The customer for this frame asked for gold and red decals. I have never had this color combo but I did have black letter/red fill and gold letter/clear fill so I just put them together and made it work.
Other than that, this is a pretty typical CX race bike made for wireless shifting. The fork is an Enve G-series painted to match-almost a given on this model. My own bike is the same , so I really don't have a bad opinion of the look-I rather like it.......kind of ties the whole thing together.

Steel big tire CX or as I like to call them- Drop Bar MTB

This frame will take 700x55 tires- anything this big in my opinion makes it an MTB frame of sorts. That said, it will be built with drop bars and does not have the boost spacing or shock fork that an MTB would have. I guess this is the current gravel platform. The owner of this frame says that the terrain he rides on requires this tire volume so I'm not going to argue with that. I'll be interested to hear how it rides with the big tires.

A really old one comes back for some restortion

Yes- this one is quite old. I think I built in 1987  so that makes it nearly 40 years old. I built it for a friend who I had sponsored to race CX many years before. This frame pre-dates when I became full time at frame building. This one has unfiled fillets for the most part and also has a level top tube.I think it is on its 3rd or 4th owner now- been changed to have a rear disc brake and now it has been restored to have cantilever brakes ,much as it had when it was new. A few of these really early ones had rollercam brakes but we all decided that they were not as good as we had hoped for so they were no longer featured on my frames. The flat top of the seat tube was gone shortly after this one and the integrated binder went away soon after. There are braze-ons for a shoulder strap-back in the day one had to be able to get over fences with a bike so this feature was very common on higher-end frames.

Ultimundo steel road frame- disc version

Have not built many of these yet but it is looking to be a popular frame this year. The bi-oval NOS True Temper OX down tube is hefty enough to withstand the forces of hard braking but is still pretty light. This frame is 4 lb. 1 oz.

Mchanic's bike version 2, fully built.

A lot of thought and work went into this bike- most of the ideas were from the customer, the former team mechanic for the Lobster CX team. He got in his first rides this last weekend and other than a noisy rear hub the bike is passing the test. Hopefully the hub issue will be sorted out today.

The 'Mechanic's bike' version 2

Version 1 was stolen years ago. Very long story but if you scroll back to maybe 2007 on this blog you will see a similar frame and fork but with a rear rack that could tow two bikes. Somewhere version 1 is lurking but there's little chance if it coming back after so many years. This updated version should be a good replacement.

Steel fully rigid 29er for bay area rider

This one is a nod to old school MTB with a rigid non-tapered fork. What is not old school is that the frame and fork are boost spacing.

I'm going to do a full build on this one next month after the paint is on it. It will have a lot of Calif. made parts mixed with an XT drive train. The frame is a hair under 5 lbs. and will take 2.4" tires front and rear.

WCCX frame going to Boulder, Co.

This one weighs in at 3 lb. 7 oz. and will be going to a junior racer who's father raced as a junior on one of my bikes in 1993. I guess I have been in this game long enough to be building frames for the offspring of my customers.
At 5'11" , this junior is the same height as his dad so both of them can ride this one , as long as they are ok sharing it !

7005 mass-start track frame for bay area rider

This one is tiny 43 cm. seat tube, 48.7 top tube. It will have overlap but that is what you expect on a really small track frame. The frame weight is 3 lb. 3 oz. -could have made it lighter but I want it to last as there are a lot of kids in this family and there's a good chance after mom is done track racing one of the kids will get the bug.

WCCX frame going to Council Bluffs, Ia.

Yes, there's CX in Iowa-in Oklahoma and Kansas as well and this frame will see some of those race courses in the middle of the US. The frame has a 44 MM ID head tube to get the needed height for this long legged rider. I went with some heavier duty main tubes but the frame is still a hair under 4 lbs.

WCCX frame for a local

This is frame # 7 in a batch of 10 that will go to heat treatment late next week. This one will be set up with Shimano Di II 12 speed. This is pretty much my last pre-season batch of aluminum so if your frame info is not in my hands by Monday, you will have to wait until late October for your frame. If you are not racing CX , this won't be a problem.

Steel CX frame for a local

This rider is on the CX team but he wanted something a bit more than just a CX race bike.

The frame will be paired with an Enve 'Adventrue' fork so with the frame and fork together there will be 5 bottle locations- might be a good thing for the heat of the summer in 2024.

Steel 29er for a local fully built

This frame had a super long top tube and fairly modern geometry. It also has an s-bend seat tube, something I have rarely used.

The result is a super stable hard tail  that can take serious abuse.
