7005 SSCX for a local

With this frame done, the May aluminum batch is ready to go to the heat treater and paint. This one was built for the single speed CX worlds that are enthusiastically being hosted right here in Santa Cruz, Calif. Second weekend in November. Put it on your calendar......it will be an event to remember for reasons both good and perhaps not good......but that's what memories are all about-it ain't all good , but that's ok. The pain of single speeding leads to the pleasure of .........whatever else might happen. Stay tuned.....

Steel gravel frame going to San Jose, Calif.

No day off for me- I did some frame preps for stuff that will be leaving the shop soon. This one has a BFS integrated head tube and a Jen Green sterling silver head badge. It is set up for mechanical shifting and is built for riding in the Marin Headlands- lots of steep ups and downs.

This one will get a full build with Sram wireless and Enve wheels. I hope to have it done soon......

# 36 back in the shop for a re-do

A set of seat tube bottle mounts and a re-paint are all that will be needed for this one. The frame is the 36th road frame I had built and dates from about 1988. The customer spec'd the cutout on the down tube lug. It was a common thing to put in one special cutout in the down tube lug of any road frame I built back then.  34 + years and still rolling......makes me happy.

SL road frame going to Canada

The lightest road frame I build is the SL. The mix of Dedacciai 7000 scandium and 7005 tubes usually produce a frame just under 3 lbs. I ride a frame like this one every Tuesday on a group ride that meets a couple of blocks from my shop. The ride is really too fast for me but trying to keep up on a light bike is easier than trying to keep up on something else, at least in my case.
This frame is made for going fast and riding at your limit. It is not a 6 hour ride frame-it's all about speed.
This particular one weighs 2 lb. 15 oz.

WCCX frame for a local.

This one has full race geometry- this is not some bikepacking rig- it is meant to be able to change direction rapidly and hold a line in tight corners.  I hope the owner likes how it steers.

7005 CX frame going to Marquette, Mi.

This one makes me think of the Psychedelic Furs and the song they opened their show with when I saw them in the '80's- "Pretty in pink" . This frame will see some not so pretty muddy CX races this fall so i guess we can re-title it "Muddy in pink"
The Enve fork has been painted to match-it is a good look, similar to the 2006 Vanilla team bikes- they were all this color and they looked great.

Tall WCCX frame going to Palo Alto, Calif.

This one will be set up with wireless shifting and paired to a Whiskey #9 CX fork. The frame also has one of Jen Green's copper badges. I hope the owner likes the ride.

7005 29er for Indiana

This is the newest version- hydroformed down tube and boost spacing, This one is built for a 120 mm travel fork so it is a cross country rig. It is made to take 2.4 tires but I'm sure the owner will not use anything larger than 2.35  . This should be a fast riding race bike that can take some punishment.

Steel all-road frame for a local.

Mechanical shifting and steel- I'll be building more like this in the summer. This one is going to the son of a local bike shop owner. He works full time at the shop- probably puts in more hours than his dad.......
I'm in the middle of an aluminum batch but some times I'll build a steel frame when I am stalled waiting for materials or fitting details from the aluminum customers. I have to keep building regardless- can't pay the rent if I'm not making stuff.

7005 gravel frame for Japan

This will be going to a shop who has ordered from me before- Bicycle Movement studio. They specified a 44 mm ID head tube but other than that it is pretty much the kind of frame  build frequently.
The customer wants to be able to use 700x43 and 650x57 tires. He will be able to do that but the ride quality will be quite different with each wheel change. Just how different I'm not in a position to say but if he likes it I'll say nothing - I'll just be happy !

SL road frame -new disc version

The road SL frame has been a rim brake aluminum/scandium mix since I came up with the model about 5 years ago. A customer requested one for disc brakes and here it is- the first of its kind.
I had to build it a little differently as the disc brake forces on the stays and the down tube can be considerable. I used some beefier seat stays to help keep the rear triangle from flexing and I used a taller section down tube. The frame is still pretty light at 3 lb. 2 oz.

7005 road frame going to Bermuda

this light stiff rig weighs onlt 2 lb. 15 oz. I used a couple of tricks to bring the weight down without sacrificing stiffness. The down tube is NOS US made Easton Elite. I only have about a dozen of these left.
the 44 MM ID head tube will house a tapered steerer Columbus futura fork. The frame will be outfitted with Shimano Di II components.

7005 mass start track frame with steel fork

No brakes ever on this one- skidding only. The frame and fork are pretty stiff, made for speed. I found some fork blades with very little taper that should be ideal with such a stiff aluminum frame.
